How to Throw Business Cards

Hi There! You asked, “How to Throw Business Cards” On Insightlopedia, we provide the resources (photos, articles, and videos) for you to be the most insightful person out there (and so you can share your insight with others). If you were looking for master business card throw, you're on the right website.

Imagine you’ve been hired to pass out some business cards about bad hair days. You walk along the street and realize nobody is interested in your product. At this point, you could either give up or start getting leads in any way possible. What better way than to plant the business cards into other peoples’ bad hair (from 20-30 feet away!?).

My bro recently shared an awesome video called “Master of Business Card Throwing” with me. It’s about an Asian guy that boggles the mind with his ability to throw business cards through the air with enough speed to burst a balloon (did I mention he can throw it so fast it glides through painting canvas even at a 60p frame rate?).

While his name is unknown, I want to share with you a bit about throwing business and playing cards.

Using sleight of hand and cunning communication skills to get oneself through ice-breaker type situations is very appealing. That’s why I grew up fascinated by magicians. One of the skills that I learned how to do quite well was throw a playing card. Much like Wesley Gibson in Wanted, I was also able to bend playing cards around certain objects (but definitely not as accurately as him).

The History

Card throwing has been a fascination for over 200 years. Magicians have used it time and time again, with methods that have been kept relatively secret until now. Ninjas from East Asia have also spurred our imaginations with their star throwing. In the world of Magic, it’s called “Scaling.”

Let’s Throw Some Cards!

The secret is all in the wrists, number one. The second is the amazing amount of spin you have employ. You will also need a high level of finesse because brute force will not work here. You also want to find as natural a grip as possible so the most power can be transferred from your body to the card.

To begin, relax your entire arm and bend your elbow 90 degrees. When throwing, snap your wrist while relaxing your grip. Do not unbend your arm, it’s all in the wrists. Remember that one fact!

These pictures show how to grip cards in the style of Rick Jay. The pictures have been taken from Davidslife.com, where you can find additional information.

Hold Up!

If you want to use this to hurt people, think again. You probably won’t be able to slice a watermelon or cut balloons, but take it as an insightful experience that you will enjoy in the end. At Insightlopedia, we want you to get off the computer and re-learn what it’s like to be human. Enriching experiences like learning to throw cards will help you wow your friends and get some exercise as well (picking up cards).

Here are some guidelines from massrespond:

Do not do this in an apartment. You will leave marks all over the paint and drywall, and may knock over something. If not at first, you sure will later. I myself have left a dent in my dining room chair that was rather noticeable. Unlike daggers and darts, cards strike more with their corner’s side rather than just the corner tip. A bit like a slap. So, these cards will leave quite a long mark in comparison.

Don’t use a target just yet unless it’s like a net or something that will catch the cards. These cards will bounce, and it’s easy to lose them. Sometimes, the bounce will be just right and zip back at you with about the same amount of power they were thrown. And these things bite like fire ants.

Don’t consider jeans to be proper protection. At the intermediate levels, these cards can sting and leave red marks even on Calvin Klein armored legs. So unless you like pain, leave the card fights to the beginning years.

In Summary

Here are some tips I would suggest if you want to become a Master of Card Throwing:

  • 1. Keep your arm bent at a 90 degree angle.
  • 2. Flick your wrists, not your arm. We are flicking to produce force, unlike what you do with a frisbee.
  • 3. Stay relaxed. Use Finesse, not Brute Force.
  • 4. Practice. Your wrists are probably tired from years of Repetitive Stress Injury from typing.
  • 5. Do not hurt People!

Thanks, and I hope you’ve learned a great deal about becoming Masters of Business and Playing Card Throwing. It has always been a dream of mine, and now it can be a reality for you if you follow those simple steps. Seeya next time!
